Fort Vannoy James Vannoy came across the plains in 1851. By 1853 he was at what would become known as Fort Vannoy. Jeremiah was in Oregon by 1865. They were first cousins through grandpa Nathaniel Vannoy, born February 16, 1749 at Rowan County, North Carolina.1

Jeremiah "Jerry" married Jane F. Moss August 13, 1843 at Pike County, Missouri. Their children were born there. Jerry and five known daughters came to Oregon by 1865.1

1870 James Neely married Mrs. Elizabeth F. Gibson July 23, 1870 at the Jump Off Joe (i.e., Pleasant Valley) School House in Josephine County. Her maiden name was Vannoy and until his death she had been married to William A. Gibson.1

1893 Florence Neely and J. C. Cochrane married October 11, 1893 (Vol. 3, p. 423).

1895 An "E. F." Neely identified on the 1895 Josephine County map was the owner of almost 600 acres where the Neely children and Trimbles’ graves are located adjacent to the northern boundary of today’s Pleasant Valley Cemetery (PVC).5

1904 Elizabeth F. Neely died November 3, 1904 at Fresno, California, per L. B. Hall Mortuary records. The Courier stated the date of death as September 22, 1904.1

1909 James Neely died October 11, 1909 at Quartz Creek near Merlin.1
